Tasmania's pubs reach back to the first years of European settlement. Hobart's Hope and Anchor dates from 1807 and the Bush Inn at New Norfolk from around 1815, and the two have long disputed the "oldest continuously licensed" title. Cascade, beside the Hobart Rivulet, is the country's oldest operating brewery, while Boag's has been Launceston's beer since 1883, fuelling a friendly north–south rivalry. The island also led the way out of six o'clock closing, moving to 10 pm in 1937. Ask for a ten if you want 285 ml.
