Return visit to the Sawtell Hotel

Oh dear. We returned October 2012 to a big disappointment. My room was tiny with a high up window I could barely see out of .My colleague's room was right above the refridgeration plant that rattled and hissed all night. He complained about not being able to sleep and the rude woman manager said " Well that's what you have to expect in budget accomodation." She couldn't have cared less.
I wonder if the overflowing ash trays on the filthy verandah was 'budget' as well'
Everywhere was grubby and rundown which means they are not maintaining the place.for what ever reason.
Sad to see a nice hotel go to the dogs.
Avoid.

Excellent hotel for the budget traveller

We stayed there in March 2012. This hotel felt loved by its community. Friendly helpful manager and staff. Pleasant cosy rooms in a period setting with a big verandah in the classic Aussie style.
Very close to a beautiful ocean beach this charming hotel will have my custom again.
