The Riverside Tavern, SOUTH WEST ROCKS, NSW

Honestly was there for holidays greatest steak IV ever eaten at a pub/tavern.....good friendly staff n yes there was a wait of an hour on food but we were told as we ordered and it was holiday time n packed.....still great beer n great food,

We booked a table. Check. Location of table way out the back. Not so great. Very busy. We ordered and we told we would wait 90 mins for mains. OK. So at least they told us. At the 60 min make ( after many drinks) we made the mistake of asking if our bread or entree would arrive before the 90 min mark. The wait staff communication was to say the least less than desirable. we were told basically to see there and sit and shut up. really all we asked for was our bread to sop up some of the alcohol we were drinking. May be that is the plan offer such bad service you drink soooo much. I work in a service industry and communication is everything. One bad staff member and the whole experience was soured. Never again. And we will tell everyone we can not to go there. Communication at work!!!!

Sunday 2nd December 2012. I had booked a table for 1am for lunch as we had visitors and had been told that you offered a nice meal.???? However we were so disappointed on arrival as the dinning area was sooooooooo untidy the tables were soooooooooooo sticky and the menu offered needs to be reviewed. It looked a little better but not much on the veranda but there were no available seats. There was also a half hour plus wait for meals. Not good enough employ another chief or whatever. Needless to say we walked out.. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND YOUR ESTABLISHMENT AS I WOULD BE TOO EMBARRESED SHOULD THEY ENCOUNTER WHAT WE DID. You have such a lovley outlook and surrounds which is taken away by your service.. Note: Take a leaf out of the meals served in Smithtowns Tavern by the river

Stopped with a group of people. Great views, lovely place and the food was great. However we didn't get our coffee until everyone was about to leave well after lunch. The waitress apologised and explained why. Ending up leaving by ourselves as the rest of our group had already left. Very poorly organised. If you have a group arrive, they should leave as a group and leave no one behind because they are still waiting for something from lunch.
Next time I think I will stick to a cold drink from the bar. May not go back again.

The Tavern has to be the best eating spot in South West Rocks. There are specials every day and the steaks are the best I have had for a long time. The atomsphere is great and the service is A1. I live in the town and I have never had a bad meal it is a must visit for all visitors

We annually holiday at south west rocks, and have always made a point at eating at the riverside tavern. Never again, tho. Menu is no where near as good as it was last year. We just waited 2 HOURS for a crappy McCain mini pizza which was way over priced childrens meal. Then got two over cooked pieces of fish, which the oil was well and truly overdue for a change. It was DISGUSTING!! Not even so much as an apology for a 2 hour wait from wait staff. Rip off, digusting food. Next time I will stick with the seabreeze bistro... Better food, better value.

Have had the best lunch view was great, staff were great & beer was cold
no complaints form us will be back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

best pub ever, wish I could stay all night every night
