Royal Hotel, MARYBOROUGH, QLD

My husband and I often stayed at this lovely old pub when heading north. We booked in this year (July), were charged $95 and were appalled at the state of the place .. run down .. drab and the pub itself closed .. no bistro.. disappointing. We were informed the renovater had done 'a runner'. We commented on the fire risk in the place. At 9.30pm we were awaked by the fire alarm and orders to evacuate. We are still waiting for the fire brigade to attend. It was a false alarm. We were later informed the place is occupied mainly by people out of work, on the dole or otherwise. The place should be closed as it is a dump.
