Drums Hotel, COBURG, VIC

3.9 11 ratings

Drums Hotel is a traditional Australian pub offering bar and bistro, café, Thirsty Camel drive-thru bottle shop and live televised sports in HD.

We like things BIG! Parmas, vanilla slices, sausage rolls and always have great drink specials.

Good Aussie Pub

Good atmosphere, friendly FOH staff... they are efficient. Late evenings need more monitoring as smoking area gets neglected and there are a few unsavoury characters that lurk but have found that upon communicating any problems that they deal with these shady characters efficiently... just need a more active presence after 10pm

A pretty ordinary pub next to the old prison

I'm not sure how I managed to locate this hotel but somehow I did and decided to taking the tram a little further north than where I would normally get off just so I could check this place out (and have since discovered another three pubs further north from here that I am going to have to explore one Saturday). Basically put, other than the fact that it is located around the corner from the old Pentridge prison, there is nothing really all that fantastic about this place. There is a small smoking cage (because it is not really a beer garden) next to the pokies room, and another front bar area, and as far as I could tell, no real happy hour either (and I worked that out because I visited this place at a time one would expect there to be a happy hour).

Dinner

Last night three of us went to Drums Hotel and we all had a voucher for the $10 Sunday roast, only to be told that they had no vegetables. We weren"t that late, around 7 p.m.

I thought this was pretty ordinary and hopefully they will be better organised when people come in, if they are going to advertise the $10 Sunday roast.
