Far from being an average, run-of-the-mill Fitzroy local, The Standard raises the bar in terms of service, food and vibe.

Physically, it sports an unpretentious colonial feel and an enormous, renovated beer garden, punctuated with lush green foliage, a fish pond and a bubbling water feature.

The Standard

What a hidden gem this is! I never knew the place existed. But, dropping in on a cold & wet Thursday evening, I was so pleasantly surprised to discover there are still little old-style pubs around which haven't succumb to the lure of pokies, cafes or complete transformations.
